Kaumarbhritya
Kaumarbhritya is one of the eight major branches of Ashtanga Ayurveda, dedicated primarily to Pediatrics and Child Health Care. The term "Kumara" means child, and "Bhritya" refers to care or rearing. This specialized branch focuses on all aspects of a child's health, from fetal development and neonatal care to nutrition, childhood immunity (Swarnaprashana), and the management of pediatric diseases.
Department Objectives :
- To impart comprehensive clinical knowledge regarding the growth, development, and care of infants and children.
- To educate students on the Ayurvedic principles of fetal nourishment (Garbhini Paricharya) and neonatal resuscitation.
- To promote the practice of Swarnaprashana (Ayurvedic immunization) for enhancing memory, intelligence, and immunity in children.
- To train practitioners in the diagnosis and management of common pediatric disorders using safe, effective, and natural Ayurvedic formulations.
Importance of Kaumarbhritya :
The foundation of a healthy adult life is built during childhood. Kaumarbhritya plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal physical, mental, and cognitive development in children. By emphasizing a holistic approach to nutrition, daily regimens, and natural remedies, it provides a highly effective alternative to modern medicine for treating chronic pediatric conditions like recurrent respiratory infections, developmental delays, and digestive issues without adverse side effects.
